Mix water with Thinset Mortar?
Question:The package says for best results use mega bond additive. Can I use water instead?
Answers:
Yes, it will work okay with water but will be stronger and last longer with an additive, that's why they suggest it. But the fact remains, it still works with water.
Years ago, that's the only way it was done and many of those applications are still holding up, additives are relatively new.

I would go with mega
The mega will give you more working time. Water actuality is a drying agent, for instance latex paint, Sheetrock mud . There are actually agents called wetting agents to use in the place of water to give you more working time, especially useful in hot weather or when the surface you are making your application to is warm.
what is the tile aplication on wood or concreat? did you use a under layment?. what type of thinset did you get? basicly only use additives if there is going to be sheer movment in the subfloor. I find for most aplications use a full flex thinset mixed with water.
