I am about to purchase a king sized platform bed. Does it only fit a "platform" mattress?
Question:I have a king mattress and boxspring set already and I am about to purchase this platform bed. I want to make sure that you can use a regular mattress and boxspring with this bed before I make such an expense. Does anyone own one and know? also... if your wondering .. yes the dimensions add up.. but i just want to make sure and get some advice first.

This is the second platform bed I've had. They are fabulous but let me tell you, you don't even need a box spring with a platform bed because the 'platform' base is usually a solid slab of wood and this will support the mattress better than any box spring ever could. (Allowing the mattress to flex and shift will ruin it over time - they need a firm base to prevent this).
I wouldn't throw out the box spring so fast. Check out how high your mattress will be once you put the mattress and box spring on the platform. One of my platforms was quite high so the fat mattress and box spring made me need a bed step. If your platform is one of the modern VERY close to the floor ones, you may want the box spring so as not to feel like you are lying on the ground..
It's all a matter of preference. Good luck.
yes i have 1 and have a regular mattress and box spring in it. i love the platform beds now my kids cant throw things under it...lol :) but yes they fit perfect...
If it is standard then it will be 6/6 bedding , that is 6 feet,6 inchs wide and it should fit nicely if not then the guys selling it should adjust it or bring along a new frame or at least tell ye about it and you know what? If they holla that it needs a frame send it back,,you dont need extra funiture store addon crapola!
