Will a spackled area of drywall hold weight?
Question:My contractor had to drill my bathroom mirror in three times to get it straight. However, since he couldn't drill into the same place twice, the mirror is now too high. I was wondering if I removed the mirror again and spackled the holes, if I could drill into them again. Will that hold the weight?
Answers:
There is a product, called,"Hard as Rocks". You mix it up,and put it in the holes. It becomes a part of the wall, and you can drill into it, or whatever. You could also use larger anchors. Than use the holes already there, Try Toggle Bolts. You Might have to drill the holes in the cabinet a little larger to accommodate the bigger screws.Didn't the guy know how to use a level? You could also attach a strip of thin wood to the wall, where you want the mirror, and screw the mirror to the wood. But be sure to use anchors to attach the wood strip to the wall. Good Luck, You should have had a gals help for that project. Sorry Guys!
sure if you anchor it should hold
In a word, no. Oh, it MAY hold for a while, but it has been weakened and you would wake up one night to a loud crash and quite possibly a fear-induced warm wet spot in the sheets.
To save yourself the pain and late-night laundry, find a stud in the wall that you can use to anchor your mirror.
Good luck and stay dry!
It depends on how heavy the mirror is. If one sheet rock screw is enough to hold the mirror, let the spackled area dry for several days. Then screw in the screw. If the mirror is very heavy, your best bet is a wall bracket made especially for mirrors that goes on around the outer edge of ther mirror.
as long as you use good anchors it will hold just be sure to hit the studs if at all possible
