Can I use wood stain on white wooden venetian blinds?

Question:Just had white wooden venetian blinds fitted but I hate them! want the natural wood look - Can i get natural wood stain or varnish type products to change the colour? (Yes I realise I have a very slow and messy task ahead - but I paid an arm and a leg for these blinds and have no other choice!)

Answers:
I agree with AllDecor, these are expensive blinds and you dont want to experiment on them by trying to stain them, which could be a messy job, plus end result could be less appealing then to start with. I would suggest working with what you got. Putting dress curtains on the sides is an option.
White or ivory blinds in my opinion look very elegant.

Yes but you will need to strip/sand the paint off first.
Sensible_man is correct. You will have to strip the white paint before you can use a stain. Any stripper you use might weaken the fibers in the cord used to make them open/close, raise/lower.Talk about a job! If you try to darken them as they are now, they'll just look dirty. You'd be better off using paint instead. If you have 1 slat that never shows you could try it and see what you think of the results, but I'd lay odds you'll hate it. I feel for you. Hope you find something that works for you.
it is time consuming but it can be done, you will have loads of stain left though even just buying a litre!better to get the water based quick drying stain,if i were you id do it outside, lie it flat and as open as you can on some old newspaper ,do all the underside slats first though!
treat them nice
treat them good
treat them how a lady should
they are ,nt made of wood
and they dont have a wooden heart.
that is if they are white.
you have no choice kid strip and bear it ugh
I agree with the two answers...it will be a mess.

What do you hate about them? Are they too white and create a focal point? Is the window trim a dark colour? If so paint the window trim white. Maybe its time for a mini make-over.I know those blinds are pricey. Try to work with them.
Buy new blinds - Order them off the net BLINDS.com and this time you won't pay a fortune
I would try. Get an antiquing kit. The color can be applied over a previously painted surface. If the existing surface is a "plastic", it will not take stain, but you can use fibreglass "gel", that will work. Home Depot, Lowe's, or any well stocked home improvement stores will be able to help you.
