I am having company over my house is pretty plain with nothing really matching?

Question:How can I make it a little more spruce on a tight budget? I have been a loner for awhile me and my husband meet another happily married couple with kids and we have been meeting at the parks to hang out for a few months and I invited them over because it was out of my box I have always been extremely shy and would like to be more social. Thanks! I have a small front deck, living room dining room combo, and a open kitchen which i like.

Don't worry about it. Think back to dinner parties you have been to, did all the dishes match? how about the curtains? and the furniture? Bet you can't remember. Serve a nice meal, and be social, its all you need
Good For You!! and Good Luck

Put up lots of pictures in colorful frames. Get lots of plants too. Play fun music in the background when your company is over - it will give the place a nice mood.
First make sure the house is neat and clean. Some low-cost things you could do would be to get some accessories such as scented candles, throw pillows, and fresh flowers. You could also have some interesting appetizers or drinks, maybe look in a magazine for a recipe. The most important part is to be yourself and enjoy time with your new friends - they will not be concerned with how your house looks if they are true friends. Have fun!
Try some new throw pillows for your couch and some candles.Try to match some of the colors in the pillows with your furniture,to tie it all together.Maybe some fresh flowers for your table would spruce it up to.You can buy them at the grocery store very reasonable.Hope this helps some.Go to "Big Lots" if you have one. They have good prices on nice things.
It sounds like you have a great place to live, and really, the main thing is to have the house nice and clean, no garbage anywhere, and make sure the bathroom is super clean. You could bring in some flower's and put them in a vase, as they smell so good, and tidy up the outside, so it looks nice, and no worry's. You do not need to spend a bunch of money just because these people are coming by. Keep everything nice and neat and your party will go perfectly. You should get a small BBQ for your front deck.
You could place a few attractive potted plants on your deck, set the table with some colorful placemats, plates and cups. Wal-Mart carries some lovely outdoor dining accessories. For inside, a beautiful fresh flower arrangement is always inviting. You could get the flowers from your supermarket. If necessary, you could paint the kitchen or the room that you intend to use for entertaining. Set the table, or use counter if you have one. Place a runner down the center. Light some candles (assuming the kids won't get to it.) Prepare a tray of appetizers. Get something colorful like a tray of melons, grapes, strawberries. You don't need fancy china. Simple white plates or clear glass plates look terrific for Spring/Summer. If you like, pop in a CD with soft background music and have a great time!
If the house is clean and tidy, that's half the battle!
Put framed family photos on one wall, frame the kids art work for another.
Flowers/candles [ good for all public rooms ] on tables, and/or potted plants in and outside.
Display any family heirlooms, whether valuable or not
Get some throws/afghans/quilts/runners to toss over something that doesn't match
* Don't leave out any breakables until you know how their kids act in confined quarters
