Bedding question?
Question:What's the difference between a duvet and a comforter? Do you need to fill the duvet with like something?
Answers:
I think these answers would have added to your confusion(they have mine) maybe try googleing duvet and comforter
A comforter is a thick blanket, sometimes their decorated sometimes their not. When they aren't people usually get a Duvet which covers a comforter - like a slip on decorator. Hope I helped you out!
Generally they are the same thing.
Duvets are usually a plain white color
--You buy a duvet cover, to cover a duvet (a big pillowcase)
Comforters are usually printed fabric
--use it directly on the bed
Yes you can use your old comforter inside a duvet COVER (like a big pillowcase). But make sure the fabric on the duvet COVER is dark enough so you can't see the print on the comforter. Are you confused yet? Go to a bedding store and have the sales person show you the difference...that might be easier.
No you can't use a duvet cover only...it's just fabric (a big pillowcase...like two flat sheets sewn together, with an opening on one end to insert the duvet/comforter).
So we are discussing three items:
-duvet
-duvet cover
-comforter
Well like a comforter is a top blanket. And a duvet is a cover that would go over a down comforter.
A Duvet is basically a comforter. However, they make duvet covers that fit over your comforter so that you can change the style in your room. The only problem you might run into if you get a duvet cover for your existing comforter is that the color might show through the cover, depending on what color your new cover is. Typically duvets are very light in color so that when a cover is added the color underneath does not show through.
Good luck!!
