drips are awesome! i think you should splatter the walls not get wallpaper, just be sure that you dont use too much paint(this causes driping)
To prevent dripping, place the wall-paper on the ground. Splatter paint onto your wall-paper then let it dry. Once it's dried then you can hang up your wall-paper. Hope this helps.
Go to the hardware store and ask about their special order wall covering. They do make blank wallpaper. You ought to get a book about it at the library, there are so many different things you could do. They show the technique your referring to , as well as a backwards type sponge thingy. That ones really COOL. Get a book. see what there is to see. Wished I could do that backwards sponge thingy!
get creative! use latex paint thinned with a little water and use a spray bottle. it will give u all kinds of odd shaped splatter spots. or, cut out crazy patterns on parchment or freezer paper to make your own stencils. how about using a potato cut in half? just keep loading the paint and press it on! just be sure to cover the floor and have fun. if it's ugly when your done, just do it again!
I saw a bob the builder episode when one of the trucks drove over white wall paper to give different effects lol. I know bob usually isn't my decorating guru, but I thought wow that would be fun. You could do something similar with your splattered paint.

They have wallpaper that is meant to be painted on it is how ever a little pricey. If you choose to do it lay it on the ground and do the splatter. Then after it has dried you can hang it.

I've done the splatter effect on furniture and it looks really cool and is a blast to do. So, personally I would just paint the walls them directly. Do one color at a time wait for it to dry then do the next color. When you dip your brush tap it on the edge of the can to get as much excess as you can off then splatter That will decrease the drips.

Have fun!! I like using contrasting colors. You can even use other things to do the splatter. I've used kitchen utensils potato mashers give a cool effect.

Squirt guns are fun too. You thin the paint a little then pour it into cheap squirt guns and "shoot" the wall.

It is funnest if you do this with someone. The only caution I would have is make sure you cover everything you don't want paint on and make sure you wear clothes that can get paint on them because paint will go every where.
