Bi fold door?

Question:What is the different between open in and open out bi fold door? What are the disadvantages and advantages of these two types of door's opening?

Answers:
The exact same set of bi-fold doors can be installed on the pivot pins to fold either inward or outward. Unless they are "walk-in" closets, most closets are only 24" deep and the contents of the closet prevent bi-fold doors from operating in a "folding inward" manner.

Bi-pass or bi-fold are commonly used for these shallow depth closets since they offer the easiest access to the closet. The swing arc of out-swing hinged french doors usually interferes with furniture placement in the bedrooms so they are usually only used in large bedrooms.

Good luck with all of your home improvement projects.

Open out bi-fold doors hinge outward as they open while open-in doors hinge inward.

Basically the advantage depends on where you want extra space and where you can afford empty space, since you need to allow space for the hinging. Inward hinging doors are more rare, because they require extra empty space be alloted inside the closet.
If you have plan your home decorating or home design to include the open in door, you can use it as part of your home decoration.

For open in door, do consider if it will take up spaces that will otherwise use for other purposes. However, if you could compromise both, that would be the best.
