Should you put hardwood floors in your kitchen?
Question:
Answers:
It used to be that hardwood floor varnishes didn't stand up well to the frequent wetness of kitchen and bathrooms. The new stuff works fine.
i have them in my kitchen, they look great and are so much easier to take care of.
No. tile or granite nothing else other than laminate.
I think so, or a nice tile floor. A lot of people I know are switching their kitchen to hardwood though, it seems to look nicer and is easier to clean up.
It looks great! but if you have kids, think about spilt milk. If you have no kids, go for it!
I have hardwood floors, in my kitchen. Hardwood floors, is pretty to look at. But, after a while, they will start making creaking sounds when you walk on them, even if you don't walk on them that hard. They start feeling slippery.
Hardwood floors are very nice in your kitchen, there are no disadvantages to having them
I just put a Pergo floor in my kitchen and it looks fantastic. Just be sure to put down a moisture barrier.
The Inexpensive ones I do Not believe You should. Think Milk Spilt going down inbetween where the planks of laminate make believe wood flooring seams are; Yuck Mildew & mold problem just waiting to happen. My thoughts: If you want wood floor in Kitchen which certainly will look really nice; then Go with the upgraded more expensive quality products. Seal the seams really well too!
i say no ,to many problems with water on floor, check out the new tile that looks like hardwood, you can't tell the different,a little pricey though, hope that helps
When I put hardwood floors in kitchen, I make sure that they are coated with a product called Varathane. Put it on thick to make sure it gets into the cracks. this keeps water out.
Just be cautious with spills. You need to clean them up promptly.
I absolutely LOVE hardwood floors, we had them at my old house and they looked great. Depending on the finish its easy clean up :)
As a contractor, I have been asked this question often. It's all about the sealing of the wood. You need three coats of poly minimum and plan on re-doing coating about every 5-7 years. To be honest, done this way, they are just as easy to maintain as tile, which should also be sealed, in a kitchen especially
