Bifold door?
Question:My builder by mistake ordered an open-in bifold door. Can I convert it to an open-out bifold door? If yes, how can I do it? Thank you.

Yes. The door pivots on two points. One is in the floor and one is on the track. First, remove door by loosening screw and releasing top pivot. Slide top pivot along track, until door can be lifted out. If you want the door to close against the same side that it was, you need to pull out the top and bottom pivot pins from the door and insert them in the other end. Most bifolds come predrilled on both ends, otherwise, you'll need to drill new holes. If you want the door to pivot from the opposite side of the doorway, remove the base pivot and reinstall at the other side. remove the top pivot from the track. Depending on the brand of hardware, you may have to remove the track, to slide the top pivot out. Reverse the top pivot and reinstall the door. If you want the louvers to face, reverse the hinges, then determine where you need the pivot pins to be.

It depends on the door itself. If there doors are exactly the same front and back, you should be able to turn them around with little problem. But if the doors have a raised panel look or other detail than makes a difference between the front and back, then it will be much more difficult. Basically, the hinges are facing the wrong way and need to be turned around. If your hinges are mortised or "set" into the wood AND you can see them from the front now, it will require some good carpentry skills to do. And even then, you might still be able to see where the old mortise was patched from the front.

You should be able to. Just flip them. Like if it opens in and is the last door, you should turn it around and make it the right door. So the part that stays near the wall is the same. And the handle should be able to flip to the other side.
Your builder should fix this by getting you what you wanted and you should not have to ask how to fix his mistake. I am a contractor and I would not leave it up to you to fix my mistake.
