Covering table with aluminum flashing.?
Question:For my kitchen "island", I want to find an old salvaged table and cover the top with aluminum flashing (there is a lot of silver in my rustic kitchen, i.e., tin backsplash, etc.) but I don't know how to manage the corners of the flashing. Have any of you ever worked with flashing enough to be able to tell me how to work with it at the corners of the table for a tailored look? Also, I had planned to use adhesive for the table top. Do I use small nails on the corners? Thanks!

Flashing is hard to work with. You might want to look into tin instead.
Anyway, You will need to attach it with nails around the edge, and adhesive on the back side. I would use decorative molding strips (this) to cover the edges as the flashing is sharp and cuts. That will add a nice lip to your workspace, also. Cut the flashing to go just barely shy of the edges so it doesn't peak through the outside of the molding.
However, it will not stay flat and shiny and new looking for long. It will get dented easily, and can be cut with knives and such. I suggest getting a piece of glass cut to size and lay it over the flashing inside the molding.
Good luck!!
