I want to paint my living rm?
Question:My living rm extends to my dining area, and I want to pick colors that won't make it two much, also something that goes good with my blue couch and loveseat.
Answers:
so what type of decor do u like? U stated u'r couch & loveseat r blue but u never stated what u'r likes r. That is a big factor. Not likes of just colors but likes of design. Do u like European? French? Italian? Retro? Contemporary? Modern? Traditional? .. that's where u need to start?
I don't know what u'r couch looks like but if it's a simple "blue" as in "blue blue" u could lean more towards Tradtional,French Or Italian.
If it's a darker blue then add the tans & go more w/ Modern & contemporary... Do u c what I'm stating here?
So... Tans/cremes/off white would go nicely w/ contemporary...modern... greys also
IF u want more of a POP.. then lean towards reds/maroon/anthr blue/orange/greens...more of the Fiesta- retro-70's style
U could paint them different shades of the ONE color on ea wall which would give it deminsion..
So think about u'r likes of decor? Think about u'r likes of color that may go w/ that decor? Then if u have sample of u'r couch or take a pillow & go to u'r paint store. Pick out a few colors that would go or u like.. get several samples... put them on the walls & watch how they chg. thru out the day & c which would u like.

Black! Black goes with everything
Tans and cream colors look really good with blue. Adding a few pillows in the same colors on the couch will repeat the wall colors and help unify the rooms. If you want it to be really contemporary chocolate brown walls are a nice accent to lighter blue furniture. They're calling that look"modern traditional" .
you can go with a cream colored or off white... if you really want color go with a lighter shade of the blue in ur couch or a light green... i would avoid dark colors beacuse they tend to make rooms look much much smaller.
Browns, taupes, and tans are popular with blues. I suggested you pick up a color sample wheel at your local paint shop; find the color of your furniture then find a tan tone on the same spot to make sure the tones match. ( if the blue is second down of five chose a brown second down)
