Im looking for a screw thats galvanized and after you screw it in the top snaps off?
Question:My mom is selling some materials for the building off a new detention center. And shes looking for this certain screw.
It has to be galvanized. It cant be a nail. And the top cant show, so kids cant unscrew it.
Does anyone know what its called or were you could buy it?
Answers:
What your looking for is a "Tamper Proof Screw" They've been around awhile. Look at Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware.
They can also be ordered from a company called "McMaster Carr"
tap screw at any hard ware store
They don't make screws that the head snaps off. You need a tamper proof screw. They can only be screwed in and can not be removed with out being chiseled off
Do this the easy way. Use any old screw you want and cut off the head as it approaches the surface. Wall board screws ("black screws") can be easily cut off with a pair of "dykes" (those pliar looking things with a cutting jaw below the regular jaws). Otherwise, use a cut-off wheel on a Dremel tool, or slap a cut off wheel in a drill and sheer it off. File down smooth to the surface. A 30 second operation.
