Will masking tape peel off white paint?

Question:The paint was put on about 24 hours ago.
It's regular, white, satin paint from Wal-Mart. (:P)

If I put masking tape on it, will the paint come off with it when i peel it off?

I'm a fan of Sherwin Williams products OK?
Walmart paint is very good paint! Your painted surface is as durable only as much as what was on the wall under your fresh coat-- just keep that in mind. I would never ever ever put regular masking tape on a wall period! Blue painters tape is your best bet. If you haven't a clue about what the subsurface was like before your paint job use Delicate surface, safe-release blue painter's tape which is different from regular blue painter's tape.

Yes it will peel it off. You need to wait at least a week before you tape it and then you need to be using painters tape and pull it off really slowly.
It's good to pull it off when it is still wet. Just make sure there are no drips.
Yes, give the paint more time to cure.
With GOOD paint (not sure about what Wal Mart sells, but if it's one of the products they continually push the manufacturers to wholesale at ever-declining levels, I'd be cautious), if it was applied to a really good base (clean/sanded, similar flat type paint), a satin paint should survive masking tape, especially if you apply it somewhat lightly, that is, don't roll it down or press it really hard into the new paint.

When removing it, pull the tape back on itself, that is, at the most acute ange possible, so that only a tiny amount of adhesive is being pulled up at any instant, and as another responder advised, remove the tape slowly.

OTOH, if the base is glossy and dirty, expect the paint to peel off easily.
If you are talking about putting tape on a freshly painted surface after 24 hours. Yes. Wait about a week then use blue painters masking tape. It's a little more expensive, but it works.

If you are talking about tape that has been used for masking off areas then painted, you should be able to take the tape off after a few hours on quick drying paint. 24 hours on slow drying paint. This should leave a good border without taking off the paint you want to stay.
Wd-40, long known for its ability to remove left-over tape mung (sticky label tape), is also a lovely perfume and air freshener! Sprayed liberally on every hinge in the house, it leaves that distinctive clean fresh scent for up to two days!
Seriously though, it removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor! Use WD-40 for those nasty tars and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn't seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off.
it will pull the paint off sometimes when left on this long, especially if the paint underneath is an Enamel. there is a painter's tape that is blue.
