I am considering buying a futon day bed, because I have a bad back, is there a bar like there is in sofa beds?
Question:I will be sleeping on it often and I need to know if it has bars or wooden rods that will hinder my being comfortable
Answers:
Yes it has tonz of bars! At least the one i had did. that's what held the bed up is just a row of bars!
So i am telling you - DO NOT USE A FUTON FOR YOUR BAD BACK! They made me get a bad back!
look for something else!
It depends what kind of mattress/frame this futon is that you're thinking of buying.
I bought a futon for college, eons ago. It has a frame that looks like two pallets bolted together. That futon is unbearable to sleep on.
My sister bought a futon 2 years ago. It actually is constructed quite well (wooden frame) and the mattress is a sealy posturpedic mattress.
You may need to test it out and see how it feels.
*We own a sleep-number bed. I would recommend that for anybody with a bad back, however.
I don't think you want a futon, they aren't very comfy.
yeah ! obviously so it can fold out , but i suggest not getting it for your back becuz my bed is a futon and it is really comfortable in a way but you cant stay in one place for a while and its really hard !.
If you have a bad back, let me assure you that a futon is the LAST thing you want! They become very uncomfortable in a very short amount of time as they wear in. It does not matter if you have a base with bars or a platform style base, the futon mattresses are all the same. Everyone I know who has had one eventually got rid of it for this reason, including my teenage son.
If your back is that bad, you seriously need to plan to spend a minimum of around $1,000.00 on a good traditional mattress set or memory foam style mattress. Mattresses are one of those things in life where it really is worth it to spend the dough.
If you have a bad back that is the last thing I would buy. They are not comfortable at all. You should rethink this one.
