What is the avg. pricing on a drywall job...per/hour or per/sq.ft.? I am told $0.85 per/sq.ft. is average.?
Question:I have a relative who wants some remodeling done, but is unsure if he's getting a good deal. The workers are competent and do great work, but he's not from around here so he wants to make sure he gets the best price possible. He was quoted $0.85 per/sq.ft, but the entire house is going to cost him nearly $4,000.00. This includes everything from hanging to texturing and painting. This will completely refinish the entire house, including ceilings and cleanup afterwards.
Answers:
Well, a GOOD drywall company will charge a buck/sq. ft up to a little over a dollar -but this would be for only drywall, no paint! Especially for remodel work, that usually involves more prep, care, and cleanup than new construction. If it were a new construction (which I know it isn't) or if it's a fairly easy house then .85 would be really good, for drywall.
Anyone who quotes him $.85 or even $1.00/ft and it INCLUDES paint is either hurt for work or might not give him the professional touch he's dreaming of. Beware. If he trusts the workers and the company, then he is making out like a bandit!! Snatch it up!
We charge atleast $0.95 ft here in michigan and another .15 for prime. So i would say thats a good deal.
this is a true art form and you should do your homework on the company. Get referrals if you can. Quality counts here and it will show if the work is done poorly. That price sound good, of course get it in writing an I think you should pay for each room when it is completed.
