I absolutely cant decorate my house!!!!?

Question:Ok, we have lived in this house for 3 years. it is dark brown on the inside and is very open exept for the bedrooms. I really need some help decorating it. It has these huge, odd shaped walls that are very hard to decorate and right now i cant hire a proffessional decorator since we just bought a cabin and went on a 2 week vacation to San Francisco so we are a little short on cash. Any tips or good websites to visit?

contact local colleges, tech schools or universities that teach interior decorating degrees, classes. Most cases you can get students to help for minimal cost or the professors will have contacts in the industry.
go to hgtv.com and rate my room for ideas.
You've got your work cut out for you but if you do some research, studying and watch HGTV on television and go to HGTV.com, and go on line to H&G.com, BH&G.com and you will be able to redecorate your house. Go to the library and get out some decorating home magazines. Also try to go to model homes in your area, and you can copy a multitude of ideas from these homes. Also magazines are filled with great ideas and color schemes. Some old issues can be bought for 10 cents each. I am assuming that the dark brown is paneling? First things first. Paint is the cheapest decorating tool you can find, so get started with that. Repaint all the brown walls a warm beigy/gold in the living area. You must get rid of that brown. First paint with a white primer first and then the color of your choice. Go to good paint store or Home Depot. That will open up the space and make it look much lighter and warmer. Then try to use whatever furniture you have and work around that furniture with a color scheme. As far as the bedrooms, I would go on the light side. Soft sage green, warm beige, lighter gold, creamy beige, cream, wedgewood blue. These are all bedroom colors and can be used. Good Luck to you.
