You can buy pre-cut wainscoting in natural pine for approximately $2.00 per linear ft. Paint or Stain it yourself to any desired finish. It comes in a tongue and groove configuration for easy installation. I bought mine at a home improvement store and installed it myself. It looks beautiful and being real wood as opposed to particle board or a cheap imitation, will last for many years.
