Building a house with a pool?
Question:How much extra do you think it would cost to add an indoor swimming pool to the design of a new build house? I realise there is obviously variables depending on size and added extras but im looking for a basic ball park figure? Has anyone got an idea?
Answers:
In addition to the humidity, the pool will provide a surcharge to the foundation or the foundation will provide the surcharge to the pool, possibly both at the shallow end versus the deep end. This will require additional structural measures to consider. Lastly (dependant on where you live) consider a seismic event which may have many hundred gallons of water leaving the pool.
WAG would be in the neighborhood of $75,000. Maybe less depending on the size of the pool.
Around $100,000, sonny. My friend got'nself a house with a pool, and boy, it was mighty darn expensive!! Don't think I'd ever get'n.
You're looking at the best part of $100,000. and you might want to ensure your HVAC can handle the additional humidity generated by the pool.
Unless you have good air handling, the mold will set in very quickly.
