What is the rule about cabinet hardware on drawers vs. doors?
Question:I have a really nice custom built hardwood cabinets in my kitchen and want to add hardware to them. I am not sure what to use though. Is there as standard as far as what to use on the drawers and what to use on the cabinet doors?
Do I use knobs on both?
Do I use knobs on the doors and pulls (handles) on the drawers?
or
Do I use knobs on the drawers and handles on the doors?
I am so confused.
Answers:
It depends on the style of your kitchen.
Is it modern style, older style, rustic??
For modern style I'd go with slim-line stainless steel handles on doors and draws.
For old style/antique style I'd go with aged brass and wood knobs on both doors and draws.
I wouldn't mix handles and knobs.
Personally, I like the uniformity of using handles on all the doors and drawers. Knobs, to me, aren't sturdy enough for all the use they would get in the kitchen.
There is really no rule. Just do it the way you like.
Depends on the style of your cabinetry. If the cabinets are more modern (like IKEA cabinets)and not a lot of trim around them or really ornate, I would go with long handles on both drawers and cabinet doors.
