Question:For instance, I bought my father a gift for fathers day and lost it inside the house! I AM GOING INSANE! my mother has lost it as well...she has cracked. We are in the middle of remodeling so its normal to have a bit of clutter. But I cant even see the floor in some places. I NEED HELP!
Answers:
i understand... i really do.. U have to break down & start getting rid of stuff. Either toss in a big bin... have a yard sale & earn some of it back or donate it to GoodWill or Vets..Cancer society..things like that.
Start w/ one room. Have several boxes of which u will keep & will u will toss or rid of. On the ones that u will DEFINETLY keep put in boxes for desinated rooms. Now when u look at something... think to u'rself. Is it something sentimental or when was the last time I used it or do i really reallly NEED this>
U have to start somewhere & as far as those shows goes.. they only go to certain areas. Soo unless u live in LA.. SF... GEORGIA.. TN.. u may get lucky.

Rent a large roll-off dumpster and start filling it up with all your needless clutter. This way you don't have to carefully bag and sort - just start pitching in a wholesale manner. I don't believe in organizing and storing, since most of what is true clutter is stuff that will never be touched again if it's put in neat little containers. Why pay good money for ingenious ways of storing stuff that will never be used in the first place?
Sounds like a good time for a yard sale, alittle cash to buy organization units for what you must keep. What you don't sell take to Goodwill .
Take all the items that you consider to be surplus to requierment. Ask yourself "do I really need this, do I ever use it, will I ever use it, does it have any value" put all the stuff outside the house or rent a dumpster. Don't pile it up inside as you're more likely to not get rid of it or might not have enough space anyway.
Get a good friend or another family member to come around and then let them go through what you have left in the house. You're going to have to let them go through all your stuff. Tell them you only want to keep the essentials, no junk, unless you can give a good reason to keep it. Don't argue with them when they toss stuff out, go out so you can't see what's going on.
If you have surplus furniture you don't use get rid of this too, either sell it in the free-ads or give it to charity.
It seems totally overwhelming right now as it is but once you make a start you will be surprised at how quickly you can make a real difference.
take EVERYTHING that is on the floor out to the yard or somewhere outside. make 3 piles labeled trash, keep, and give away. make sure the keep pile is significantly smaller than the other two. then sort everything out.
Post a Sign, Yard Sale, pick a date, and start moving stuff out of the house, NOW! If not, you will be caught in a remodeling slum, and it won't get finished, because of the mess. Then after you sell some of the stuff you don't want, and some stuff you may want, but are too afraid to get rid of, BUY ORGANIZATION BINS FOR THE HOUSE. Put shelves, place items neatly on them. Then, make everyone stick to an agreement never to buy useless junk again. Or, if you're not too savvy in yard sales, call your local charity org.,and ask them to come and get it for free. You'll get a tax break, and have money next year for something new. GOOD LUCK
