I have found a jim walter house that i love. it has the perfect floor plan and everything. the problem is that

Question:they will only build their houses on a wood foundation. my boyfriend refuses to have a house built unless it is on a cement foundation. is it legal for us to take the floor plan that these people designed and have someone else build it that would be willing to use a concrete foundation?

Answers:
Here is what you need to do. Get a copy (81/2x11) sheet with the floor plan you like on it, find a draftsman in your area to draw a "similar" floor plan. You can copy that plan but since it is copyrighted, there must be at least 10% of chance to the floor plan. So, make a room bigger, add a powder room, mirror or rotate something. Change the roof layout a little and you are good. Send me the plans and I will draw them for you, its what I do. sfdrafting@gmail.com or www.sfdrafting-az.com

Yes, but you may be able to purchase just the floorplan.

HUH? Something wrong here, unless it's on a beach lot and must be on stilts.

NO, you cannot take their plans to another builder.. They pay architects thousands of dollars to draw plans and they are copyrighted. You also cannot make a copy of the plans.
