use the same color teal with cream and chocolate brown. i think it would look really nice and you can usually find accessories for cheap with the brown coloring.

Make it bright with lots of hot pinks, oranges, yellows, etc. They look great together and she can decorate with anything. Lots of accent colors brighten the room.
I agree with the brown/cream/teal color scheme. It should be easy to do and it's neutral enough that you shouldn't tire of it fast.
