Ceiling color: creating a higher illusion look, and a calming feel.?
Question:What are some ceiling colors that create the illusion of making the room taller. I also want a color that has a calming effect (sp?). My walls will coordinate with my ceilings and floors. Starting at the top.

light & bright colors will give u that illusion PLUS painting only 3/4 way up the wall will make the ceiling seem taller. blues/greens/purples r calm... rest is vibrant unless u aim for the deep dk colors but then depending on u'r walls... can bring the ceiling in or out. Get some colors from the hardware & put them on u'r ceiling & walls. C how they chg thruout the day & nt. That will help in u'r color choices.
if you want your room to look taller, keep the ceiling white, or a lighter color
If you paint the ceiling the same color as your wall, it visually makes it look bigger because there are no stops to break it up (such as another color).
You could also paint stripes, which makes a ceiling look higher.
