Really Large Wall Hanging! How do I hang this Indonesian Tree Root Carving on the wall?

Question:I need to hang this Indonesian Teak Tree Root Carving on a high wall, above a door, but this has proven to be quite a challenge. She is about 60" tall and 54" wide, weighing about 100 pounds. I need to find a way to safely keep her up on the wall, and think drilling into her would be very risky since she is quite fragile. She has some small nooks and crevices on back, which might lend themselves to holding a bracket of some kind, but this won't suffice to mount and fasten her, especially considering she'll be right over a door which is used frequently. I've uploaded a pic of her at yahoo photos:

(if the link doesn't work, you might try searching for photos by drbernice843...if all else fails, I could email a link). Ever encounter something like this? Suggestions greatly appreciated! I'd like to see her up in the perfect spot before the kids break her!

It's hard to say exactly with that small of a picture. My first thought would be to have someone help you hold her up where you want her to be and then make a mark just underneath the largest of the roots. You could then put some molly bolts in the wall where you marked. Since you didn't say, I'm assuming you have walls made from drywall and studs. If you have a solid header board over the doorway, then you could simply use large screws into the wood inside the wall. You can paint whatever you use to either match the hanging or the wall so it doesn't show as much.

Absolutely beautiful.
I wouldn't want to take a chance on damaging it. Have you considered consulting a local frame shop? They have a lot of experience in hanging odd-sized and heavy pieces. They may be able to give you better advice than we can here.

Good luck!
That`s an absolute work of art. A pedestal mounted above the door would probably hold it up best, but would block the view from below. You could try large eye hooks in the studs & header above the door. then tie it up with some soft cordage that wouldn`t damage the limbs. Good luck, it`s a beautiful piece.
Bolts and hooks to the wall, but make sure to secure only to the bigger roots.
