Can you paint an aluminum siding house?
Question:I was told you couldn't and you had to get vinyl but I don't trust the guy.
Answers:
You can, just remove as much dirt, mildew and "chalk" as possible by pressure washing it or scrubbing and rinsing. If there's still too much chalky residue, use exterior alkyd (oil based) primer. Once that's done, just use a top of the line exterior 100% acrylic house and trim paint.
I'm no expert but i'm going to say yes.. Assuming you just got the right paint for "outdoors." Will it look great? Maybe. Will it look atleast okay?.. I'm going to say yes.
My husband has put up metal siding and he said that you could but you need a type of paint that will adhear to metal. I'd check with Home Depot or Lowes to see how expensive it may be. They should have the kind of paint you will need. Hope this helps!!
No you can't paint aluminum siding. Usually the manufacture does that at the factory. It's not a great idea. I hope this helps, if I'm wrong, I am sorry. SusanF
paint it. i got vinyl and i hate it. dont have a barbaque near it and it will melt. my dad painted a aluminum siding house back in the late 70's early 80's they moved out in 1986. it stayed painted like that until the late 90's early 2000's. ask a person like at lowes or a real paint store (look up in the phone book) what type of paint to use. i know i painted one with dad back then bright yelllow with the trim of nasty brown and i wont forget for the rest of my life how it really worked and how he even was saying the neighbors are nuts and you can paint it.
even my witch ( rhyme it) neighbor painted her sideing back in 1999 when i redid my home and her siding looks fantastic to this day. yes, you can paint it.
you can paint anything now adays. go to a top 3 store--Benjamin-Moore,Sherwin Williams or Porter Paint. Tell them what your doing and they will get you set up. Its all in the prep and primer. Prep good and get the primer tinted( i get mine tinted 3/4 strength to make it easier to put the finish coat on) and then put a good finish paint on. should last a while
