I'm attaching an outdoor speaker bracket to a 2X4 frame and wondering what size screws I should use and?

Question:Attaching an outdoor speaker bracket to a 2x4 frame in my backyard and wondering what type and size screws I should use. I want screws that won't rust. Should I use galvanized? Also, the speakers are 5inch speakes but fairly thick so should I use 2inch, 2.5inch or 3 inch screws. The bracket allows for two screws. Thanks!

Answers:
Buy stainless screws. A few cents more and you will not have to worry about them. Standard galv deck screws should not be used for this project - they are brittle and may break. Don't know your speaker's weight, or what gets broken if they fall - hard to estimate. If this is 40 feet in the air over a neighborhood crowd I would use different materials than if it is mounted over a plant.

Depending on the thickness of the bracket, 2 inch would probably be just fine. I use screws designed for exterior use, like decking screws. Galvanized should be fine.
