I am painting my bedroom and I am considering the color green. I want to use 2 shades of green. Any ideas?

Question:I want to color 2 walls dark green and the 2 others light green. Like a mint green. Have any of you seen this and if so, would you recommend these 2 colors together?? I'm just curious what others think. - Also, FYI, the floor will be hardwood in a medium brown (not too light not to dark).

Answers:
Go to Home Depot, Lowes, or another place where they sell paint and get paint swatches. Bring them home, try them on the walls, and see what you think.

i personally dont think that there are too many shades of green that would look good together on a wall, hunter green and the mint green might look good together just be sure its not like that baby mint green color, what type of room decor are you useing?
The two colors together are good. I have an idea. I did this in my bedroom. Paint all the walls in the light green. Use wood the same color as the floor and make boxes around the bed as a headboard and windows, and anywhere else for decoration. Paint the inside of the boxes the dark green and use a sponge lightly with different shades of green and white to make little splotches of color inside the box. I did it with purple, and it worked great!

ps. Try the technique on a piece of cardboard until it looks the way you want.
pps. One accent wall of dark green would also look good. Make it the wall with your bed.
i would prefer a lemon yellow with a light limegreen accent wall. it would look really nice. as far as the 2 shades of green go, i would use a sea green with a mint green. hope i helped:) good luck.
My Wife just painted our bedroom with two shades of green She used Forrest green and lime green. She did not paint one wall and then the other. sHE PAINT THE DARKER COLOR UP TOP AND THE LIGHTER SHADE BELOW. iT REALLY LOOKS GREAT.
Colors can be divided into three main groups: those that stimulate and uplift, those that relax and calm, and those that provide harmony or balance.
Go to a home improvement store like Lowe's or Home Depot--even Wal-mart sells paint and get a few of those paint color sample papers with several colors on the same strip. Find a mint that you like on one of the papers and then find the other darker green and use that one---make sure you use both colors from the same little sample paper so the tones and undertones will be the same. If you look at a paint sample paper and really look at it almost to the point of staring you can see the appearance of a color under it like gray or red. (I have a pretty good eye for this--but my husband can't tell the difference. At first my 12 year old daughter didn't notice the difference). I think a shade or two--maybe three difference at most would look really nice--any more than that would seem awkward and displeasing to me, but someone else might be all for it.

If you haven't invested in one of those paint rollers that you can pull the paint into the stick, I highly recommend it. They are very easy to use and clean up after. Try Lowe's or Home Depot for that. Good luck and Happy painting. :)
1] lime and olive
2] mint and forest
3] grass and moss
4] jade and pine
a] paint the short walls the darker shade of green - will make the room squarer
b] paint bottom half of walls darker shade, and top lighter
c] wall light shade; trim darker
There is a simple and really easy way to get a dramatic look. You use one color of paint, but get half in Gloss and half in Flat. You randomly tape off stripes, different widths and paint every other one with the gloss and the alternate with flat. It is a dramatic look... You could also do it with two different colors this way.
