Decorating a hippie bedroom?
Question:I want to redecorate my room with a '60s/hippie feel. I'm looking for bean bags, a net canopy, rugs, tapestries, lava lamps, door beads, and buddha statues.
There really aren't a lot of stores around my are where I can buy stuff like this, at a reasonable price.
I've been looking around on the internet, and a lot of the stuff is pretty tacky looking. I don't really want any of that.
Does anyone have any websites where I can find resonable priced things that aren't tacky? Or does anyone have any more suggestions?

buy stuff to decorate it at yard sales. maybe even go to the flea market.
Try to find vintage items on auction sites like Ebay.
your decorating your bedroom like the 60's and your seriously looking for stuff that isnt tacky. ROFLAO
you won't be able to get a true hippie room if you don't smoke some pot first.
oldglory.com <-- lots of good stuff = )
What about visiting a second hand store like the Salvation Army store or Value Village? Or what about making your own things if you are the crafty sort? You could do tie-dye, or batik bed linens or curtains, for instance.
-You can make a bead curtain by attaching paper mache balls to string , let them dry then paint a shellac them.
-Plants are hippy so get lots of 'em.
-Tie-die old sheets and use them for curtains or wall dressings.
-get some vintage posters of psychedelic art at a second hand store
well try ebay, spencer gifts has a lot of that kinds stuff too - for a net canopy cheak try going to an army surplus store and get fox hole cover netting - http://www.gryphonsmoon.com has some neat stuff in thier home decortating section for wall tapestries - their stock changes a lot so sometimes you have to look though
You need some rattan shelving/side tables/chairs and macrame hanging plant holders. People were really into house plants then. And pet rocks (rock with googely eyes glued on). And rainbows. For some reason I recall lots of rainbows... and smiley faces. Maybe it was all that pot people were smoking... and sex. Oh, you should have some incense, preferably patchouli. True hippies didn't have any money. They made a lot of their own stuff, like blue jean purses and patchwork quilts. And by all means, there was no such thing as too much purple.
go to flea market, thrift shops, antique stores, eBay, google, big DIY malls/stores.
well, you can probably find some cool, real, authentic stuff if you find some yard sales in your area, and those are usually very reasonable. You should definitely try Ebay; you can find anything there.
issac mizrahi's collection for Target has some great
retro-styled pieces, which are very affordable and not too tacky.

Well, best of luck. Hope i helped!!
u have a lot of answers & some pretty good.
I agree... try thrift shops/garage sales/swap meets..
http://www.target.com had some lava lamps & some bright color items for the room .
U can make a lot of u'r own designs like was stated w/ sheets. When i did my rm back n that day.. I tye dyed sheets for my bed covers then stripped down the color in my curtains & tie dyed them as well. I wasn't able to do lots of colors so i did purple & blue. Lots of "love" beads hangin... physicdellic posters, even record albums would b nice on the wall or framed. Don't b afraid to use color & w/ the 60-70's.. nothing really matched b/c everythin was bright.
B creative & have fun!
