Can mattresses bend to make it up stairs??

Question:I want to get a king size bed. Thought about buying two twins and joining them together because I have a tight stairwell. Doesn't seem like the best idea though. Do you think a mattress would bend enough to make it up?

Answers:
Well, yeah, if you and your helper are strong enough, it could even bend into an "S". But what about that durned box spring? No bending there . . .

77x80 has a little flex; but you can damage the coil unit if you get carried away.
The top one yes,
but not the box spring !
Yah i'm pretty sure. I had to bend my mattress to get up my stairs to my bedroom. But if it's a spring i don't know what to tell you bud ;D Yah if you feel like getting a king sized. You can. The workers usually place them where you want them. And then it's your problem once they set it down where you want it.
FYI, box springs for a king are 2 twins.

Ok...yes, mattresses 'bend' and give a bit, but you will need to measure the height of your stairwell also. Measure the width and height and give those measurements to the sales manager, not just a sales person, at the store; they can check and see if it will fit.
i see your still not convinced from previous question.they will bend before you purchase try and bend it and see for yourself. and if your still not convinced try a waterbed a hose will bend upstairs plus if you get a half a base up youll get a mattress up
Lived in a townhouse with tight stairs to the upstairs bedroom. Been there and done that. My king size mattress got bent with some force and some wit. The spring board was actually two twin sized items. Good luck. We actually were able to move it in and later move the mattress out too. It is possible.
