Problem with Bats in the loft?

Question:Just discovered that I have bats in my loft. As much as I like them they make one hell of a mess on my balcony which is below where they fly into the roof. Any ideas please ?

Answers:
Your local Council will know of a licensed handler who can move them for you. Don't try it yourself, they are protected against being even disturbed, and the penalty is draconian. The local authoruty will be only too pleased to help.

Don't think you can touch them - protected species.

Get in touch with the nearest zoo or your local council - they will advise
Nope, they're protected and you can't touch them. There's proabably a local bat group who would be interested.
When I had bats in my belfry, it turned out I just needed a good psychiatrist
Call a pest control company they will know what advice to give.
Bats are indeed protected by law here are a couple of sites for information that might help you - http://www.english-nature.org.uk/science...

id rather have bats in my loft, I've just discovered a bleeding wasps nest in mine.
Call your local Department of Natural Resources. They'll probably send a wildlife officer to investigate. If you can't find that, try calling the local humane society or animal shelter. They are usually quite knowledgeable about these subjects and would be able to direct you to the correct place.

Once you get the bats gone, block the entrance to the loft. If it's a vent for the loft and can't be permanently closed off, have some screen put on the inside. I had a friend that had to do this to an old farmhouse he renovated...same problem.

Good luck! Those little things are messy and nasty in spite of all the good they do!
Protected or not if they were in my home they would have to die. Once they did find where they were getting in and seal it up.
council is the way forward. they can be relocated get it touch will the people at the web site below
It could be Count Dracula and co. Hasten to lay in a store of garlic and sharpen up some stakes. Sorry, but all the sensible suggestions I came up with have already been made.
you definately need a specialist as they are protected . but you could find where they are getting in , wait for them to leave and block it up they will soon move on
As the others have said bats are protected. I do not think that it is legal to move the roost. I live in the country and a person near me built a house which was bigger than the council allowed, I was told he deliberately let bats into his loft so that the council couldn't make him change the house. Also in our area there are a lot of barn conversions, but if there is any evidence of bats being around, whether it is a summer roost or all year around then they will not allow the conversion. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, if you do intend blocking them in or whatever other people have suggested them I would keep quiet about having them in case the local authority find out.
