Where should I hang my blinds?
Question:Outside the recess or inside? Which one, in your opinion, looks the best and why??
Answers:
Inside mountings are used for venetian blinds and outside mounts are used for verticals.
Vertical blinds are placed on the outside because they open from side to side, not up and down. Venetian blinds are mounted on the inside because they go up and down and are generally required to sit on the bottom of the frame. Curtains or valances can also be used with venetian blinds if they are mounted on the inside frame. This also gives your windows a dressed up look.
Think they look better inside the recess. What type of blinds are they?
inside mountings look more professional and complete to me than just slapping them over the entire frame...
personal opinion, i guess.
**EDIT**
dude... sorry, i didn't know that you might not be ABLE to mount them on the inside! i honestly didn't mean to be offensive. an outside mounting can work, just be sure that the blinds have a slight contrast with the wall color and (if they're not custom made) be sure to shorten them up so that they don't hang halfway down the wall, but stop at a distance that is equal to how far they're mounted above the window frame.
again, sorry... and good luck!
Do you want to see the trim around the windows or do wish to cover them with the blinds.
I work around rental units & we do it both ways.
It is neater if they are inside the frames.
If you are putting them inside the frames lets hope there is room so that the blinds don't catch on something. The pulls on the windows stick out & the blinds catch on them.
