I wouldn't use a paper tiger because it perforates the wall, then you have to float the wall out with drywall mud. I use warm water and dish soap, wet the water well and leave it along for 10 minutes, then re-wet the walls and start peeling the paper off. I don't like to scrape it off, I prefer to peel it off, because you can get larger sheets off by peeling. The brown paper left on the wall is the backing from the wall paper and needs to be removed as well. Wet the wall again and again leave it wet for about 10 minutes, wet it again and peel or scrape it off. It's time consuming but leaves no damage to the wall. Some people use vinegar and water, but it really do sent matter, soap or vinegar.
get the paper tiger (a scoring device) and a wallpaper steamer. the tiger provides pores for the steam to enter the paper, and the steam softens and loosens the old paste, the paper peels right off!
We damped the walls and took it off form top to bottom with a scraper. It was easy. Dont get it to wet or else you can ruin your wook and have to replace your walls. Good Luck
I just removed all the wallpaper from my kitchen and I got advice right here on Answers - there is a product called DIF that makes it a lot easier. It contains an enzyme that helps release the glue.
I am currently working on removing my wallpaper in my spare bed room. I seen this on HGTV, and it really works.
get a spray bottle, water and liquid fabric softener.
they say to use a scoring tool.but i havent used one and its coming off wonderful.
now if i could just get my happy butt back in there to finish my project that i started!!
good luck and hope this works out for you!
Using a steamer with a wallpaper attachment is also a good way to peel it off. The most important thing is...get ALL of the wallpaper off including the paper backing that often seperates from vinyl front. Good luck!!
buy or rent a steamer. It should peel right off.
Paper tiger and DIF are great products but patience is the best tool, score the wall with the Tiger then put DIF in a sprayer (Windex or Garden Sprayer) Garden Sprayers work best, Spray it on and wait 10 minutes, make sure you the water is hot and you use more DIF then instructed, spray again and try pulling the paper off after that is all finished youll have the paper backing or a wall with glue. If its Paper soak it and scrape if its glue use a fine steel wool with the DIF and wipe.
Try white vinegar and water.Liquid fabric softener and
water. In separate spray bottles. There is a small round
gadget that makes holes in wallpaper but I can't think of the name of it.
Use DIF and Hot Water. Then spray it on the wall somehow. I use a garden sprayer. Keep the wall wet and after about a half an hour the paper should start to peel off. If there is plastic or vinyl that water will not penetrate then peal off the top layer first and spray the paper that remains it should peel off. If the paper is 20 or so years old it will be more difficult because back then there was clay based wall paper paste.
One very important thing is to work hard at cleaning all the old past off of the wall after the paper is gone, if you plan on painting rather than putting up different wall paper again.

Run out to the store and buy Downy Fabric Softener. Get a two gallon container and fill it with very hot water and add the whole 1/2 gallon of Downy, mix well. Then apply to walls and wait about 1/2 hour, then start removing stubborn wallpaper. It works, and I saw it on HGTV.com. Good Luck
