Recently purchased a home. How can I find out when it was remodeled, and what exactly was done?

Question:All info says house is 3 bd. 2 ba. House has 5 bd & 3 ba. 2nd story appears to have been added. How can I find out what exactly was done and when?

Answers:
Perhaps 2 of the bedrooms and one bath aren't conforming. That means they may have been added without a building permit. You can check with the county's assessor department, most are on line now, and it will tell you what the house should be, the legal property description, square footage, bedrooms & bathrooms, and if and when any permits for remodeling were drawn. Oh, it will also tell you what the taxes are deliquent and how much the individual tax levies are too!

try at your local council, they should have copies of blueprints for any remodeling - especially the type that needed council consent in the first place.
