Does Drylock basement sealer have a mildicide in it?
Question:
Answers:
No. The product does not need one. The idea behing drylok is once you prevent the moisture from coming in, there isn't the propensity for mold or mildew to grow. These things need a food source and that is as simple as moisture. The other reason that there isn't a mildicide is because with one you could not use this product in bird baths or cisterns or even fish ponds because the mildicide would leach out and kill your animals/fish/birds. if you are asking if it kills mold - i believe the answer is yes. in fact that stuff is so nasty it would prob kill a lot of things
I just went to the UGL site, the makers of dryloc and checked out the info they gave and from my professional opinion, "NO" there is no mildicide in it. Most interior use paint does not have it. If you have a mildew problem I suggest get yourself a product made by Zinsser called "Jomax" and wash the walls by spraying the solution with a garden sprayer, mildew will disappear I guarantee it. You could add a packet of mildewcide to your top coat. I use the Dryloc to water proof the wall then I use a good quality 100% aacrylic for your top coat, use an exterior paint which already has mildewcide in it, good luck Les the painter
