The Problem With Stainless Steel Appliances?
Question:They look all "mod" and trendy, but
they show fingerprints
they show tiny scratches
if they're dinged or slightly bumped it shows forever
and one manuf's version of stainless doesn't match the other's
Next time, I'm going to get black appliances...they don't show dirt, fingerprints, dings, and black matches black, and I think it looks modern looking, too. I notice they have a bunch of "gray" tones of appliances coming out (forcing you to match them, again).
Anybody else have cosmetic issues with their stainless steel kitchen appliances? I'm not happy given all the money I spent!

I agree, they look better in the store and in the model homes than everyday in my kitchen. I bought these wipes and they also have a spray just for stainless appliances. They work great and aren't that expensive. I don't use them everyday, but if someone is coming over or for my weekly clean house day. They also worked great on the outdoor stainless BBQ :o) I had black appliances at my last house and I don't think they're any better. They show every little crumb and piece of dust imaginable. It also shows waterspots horribly. So I wouldn't recommend the black unless you want to clean just as much as the stainless. Good luck :o)
i aint got none of em, but after listening to this i aint gonna get none either.
I have used black Viking appliances with s/s trim in my last two houses without any problems, but the black sink was always water spotted (I bought tacky mats and expensive Kohler cleaners). Viking now has 24 colors to play with in designing kitchens but my next new house will probably have black anyway.
People forget that s/s is used in commercial kitchens for valid reasons, it lasts for decades even with extreme abuse, no one sees it back of house, and there are ENTIRE crews to keep it reasonably clean.
Go to a restaurant food supply or large megabox store like Loew's or Home Depot for Sheila Shine s/s spray or their version of it. It keeps the metal cleaner, but it is still a royal pain to clean stainless steel.

black ceramic top double oven, shows waaaay too much dust.
