Can I remove and reinstall baseboards myself? If so, how?
Question:We are having our carpet replaced with floating wood floors in our living room. I am also going to be painting that room. To save time (and labor) is it ok if I remove the baseboards, paint, and then reattach those same baseboards after the floors are installed?
Answers:
use a pry bar but start in the middle and work towards the corners , you will have less breakage that way after removal any nails left in base board should be pulled through with pliers rather than driving back out this prevents splintering of finished surface
yes- use a crow bar with a piece of wood behind it to pry off.
Yes. Place a piece of thinwood behind the crowbar or Wonderbar (I like these for molding removal) on the wall and pry against the wood. This will save damage to the walls.
