add a area rug will help blend colors.
ok ya want to paint your walls blue..and thne how about a pale yellow to go with and white//?? a cover..ok how about you getting a sheet in the color that compliments your room say gingham blue and then stenciling a design over it so you have your very own design and happy with what youve got..wont have to waste anymore time worrying about finding one ya like..also sheets are good for making curtains these days...so many differnat patterns to work with..get some diff textures going in your room as well such as pillows to decorate in colors that would also compliment whatever color of blue you paint your walls..the trim and other colors.
I like this store, www.shopwildthings.com and they have a shop by color section here...

(I got some beaded curtains from them which are awesome and they have comforter sets, if not duvets. Good luck. Think COMFORT first when decorating. I learned that the hard way.)
Blue is certainly a nice change from purple. Are you going to appreciate the blue color in a couple more yrs, tho?
Light colored wood floors actually look extra nice with a warm tone to compliment them rather than a cool color. Cool and colorful shades are ok with blonde wood floors, if you prefer. What type of furniture pieces and fixtures do you have? Are they solid wood with light or dark stain? Are they a faux wood or wood veneer? Or does your furniture have a great deal of metal accents/handles/knobs/legs? Is your bedroom furniture white?
Is overhead lighting or lamps modernistic (like chrome, frosted white, brushed nickel), or do you have traditional type lighting and lamps (such as brass, cloth,...)?
What color will your permanent curtains/blinds be? Take that into consideration as well when choosing bed linens and paint. Will you have an area rug on your wood floor anywhere in the rm? What colors exist in what you will be keeping for awhile? Any favorite framed prints or wall art?

What about something like this with pale turquoise or light blue walls? You could find a matching throw or throw pillows for the bed. (Find your fabric items first and then match your paint to that) You can also accent with a third color like pale yellow, pink, lime green...
It's hard without knowing your style and how girlie you want your room to be, but this could be pretty and sophisticated.
It'd look really nice with framed black and white photos or "vintage" posters.
Good luck!

What about a simple matelasse cover in white or coffee.

Then you can add color with throw pillows that you really enjoy. You can find great, inexpensive pillows at places like TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Ross...
Here's an example of a pretty colorful pillow.

Something like that could be a great jumping off point for your new wall color. By leaving your bedding and curtains, etc. fairly neutral, along with the light blue walls you'd like, you could change the look of the room easily simply by changing your throw pillows. Plus, pillows are super easy to recover, so if you sew even a little you can update your pillows really inexpensively.
wakeupfrankie.com has the best bedding! for your walls try a bright color to compliment the light floors, i.e. bright red or bright blue. my room is bright red with white baseboards and light wood floor and it looks very nice and clean together.
The JC Penney catalog has a lot of feminine things for bedcovers and they aren't really expensive. Anything with some pink will match the purple and tackle the walls later. For the duvet, try the catalog, they have very nice spreads, and heart shaped pillows, etc. The spread is enough, although the photographs can give you ideas to go on. Take the biggest problem first.
Blue has become a very popular color lately, so when you do paint, choose one you can live with.
Go to furniture stores and check on their layouts on the show room floors
