Over the course of a few years I've bought loads of them in Sainsburys - they may not be available all year round, but as soon as fruit or onions come on the market for preserving or pickling, their shelves will be full of the jars ! ! !
They are called kilner jars.

Try Big Lots. Walmart. Target. K-mart... in the kitchen area. I've seen them there. I believe u can even buy them online as well thru these Co's.
The Lakeland shops always have kilner jars in stock.
