Question:anyone cover such a nice floor with burnt orange carpetng?
(The house is about 50 years old)
Answers:
that was a phase everyone was going through for awhile covering up there beautiful floors with carpet ( I've seen alota strange stuff in my 30+years as a carpenter) its gonna be a great floor after you clean it up. good luck with your project!
because the house is so old that means the carpets old too, so now take the carpet off and polish it and make it look new, its same with mine its exactly what we done
because the floor will be very cold during winter.
For your allergy, I think it is Asthma. So, please prepared with u salbutamol.
People in the 60's and 70's made nice cars, motorcycles, and airplanes but were freaks when it came to fashion and home decor. My grandfather's house had three layers of linoleum and 2 layers of carpet over hardwood in the living room. You can go to the junk yard and see classic cars from that era upholstered by their owners in bright orange house carpet, too.
unfortunately that's what happens a lot. previous homeowners might think carpeting would be a better idea or having those shag carpeting and stuff was "in" back then. Luckily, you've discovered the oak floors. Just rebuff or polish it if it needs work. I used to have allergies because of the carpeting in my house. Every since we got rid of them and had wood flooring installed, I just have to worry about pollen season! Everyone's got wood flooring these days.
allergic to oak. Wood floors are hard to take care of and they went out of style in the 70s but are back in now. Orange carpets were big in the 70s
I take it that your house is quite old? Well, in those days the people only wanted to get a floor. Later, when art deco became popular, the oak floor got covered with the burnt orange carpet. Now, oak is quite expensive wood and your floor would look beautiful if you give it a good polish. Add some antique furniture and it would look great!
