Decorating small spaces? I need ideas!?
Question:I'm moving, and will be renting and rooming with a friend.
Hey, I'll also take any tips on living with a roomie after having my own home! I haven't had a roommate in many, many years and that was a witchy female. ha.
He's a very nice, flexible guy. It's a large, older house, and I have a big upstairs bedroom. 15x12 I think.
He doesn't mind me hanging things on the wall, etc.
One issue I hope works out, is that the way the house is set up he has to walk thru my room to get to his music room and office. It's an old house, but nice. This worked out in the past with the last female. The rent is great, so I'll try it.
How to decorate this area? I'd like more privacy; ideas to make a screen of some sort?
I'd like to make a small sitting area, but it'll be cramped.
There are 12 ft ceilings -is it possible to elevate the double bed high like a bunkbed, and make an area under it? Could I put it on two sturdy dressers or do I need a frame?
There's little closet space ideas?
Answers:
Look up how to build a loft bed. Many college students do this in their dorm rooms and use the underspace for their study area, chest of drawers/dresser, or for a seating area. If you are handy with tools, they are pretty easy to assemble then can be painted, at least the visible parts if you want, to coordinate with your decor. A freestanding wardrobe will give you more space for hanging clothes if you need it, though they do tend to be bulky and space consuming.
Would have to kow how the doors are laid out to suggest a privacy possibility.
Although this is for teens, you could do something like this to get your bed off of the floor:

Here are a lot of different styles of room dividers:

The success of any decorating scheme depends on how well it suits all the members of your family. To create a décor that you will be happy with, think about what you want and also what you don’t want.
