I have a membership with ConsumerReports, and read what they have to say:
There's one kind, the Bialetti Fusion 45459, retails at 50$, comes with 9 pieces, made out of aluminium, is good at cooking even, easy to clean, very safe and has nice comfort.
It rated higher than the Berndes Signo Classic 697101 at 200$ and higher than the Circulon Elite at 250$.
If you can find that one, I'd say go for it!!
Kmart has nice cheap pots and pans sets. Really cheap. Check it out, I'm sure you'll find a nice set of 5 for like 70$(1 large frying pan, 1 medium frying pan, 1 sauce pan, 1 pot, 1 large pot).
You can get vouchers and links for department store sales etc on www.hotukdeals.com or you could quidco the store and get some money back (www.quidco.com). Hope this helps : ) We have picked up loads of bargains on hotukdeals.
If you have a walmart, go there. You can get a whole set for just under $20
i really don't believe "good" and "cheap" go together when buying pots and pans. But, if its your first kitchen to outfit, i've always had goot luck at IKEA. Also, check out yard sales. I know if a bit old-fashioned, but a good cast-iron skillet, or if you are lucky, Dutch oven is always an excellent purchase. They may look nasty, but a bit of scrubbing, and good seasoning you'll have a versatile stove top or oven dish that'll last a life time.
Also, look for the old Corningware casserole dishes.yardsales usually have them for $2-6, and they are hardy, versatile and clean up really easy.
Nothing wrong w/ looking for good old aluminum or cast iron at a thrift shop.
They can be restored w/ a little work & will last forever.
Just look at the prices on new heavy aluminum or cast iron.
Probably be able to sell cast stuff for more than you paid when youre ready.
Ross sells good types of brands for little money
