Painting trim.....?

Question:I just finished painting my bedroom and decided I don't like the color of the trim. How long should i wait to paint it? I don't want to mess up the walls with tape. thanks.

Answers:
it does not matter how long you wait, tape will screw up the walls regardless! wait appx 24 hrs before you try this. get the color you want for your trim and a thin piece of cardboard. slide the cardboard along the trim you are painting, this keeps the paint off of your wall while you do the trim.that or try doing it free hand and see how steady of a hand you have.

I would recommend waiting at least 48 hours to make sure the paint is cured properly.
Latex paint takes 1-4 weeks to fully cure (according to home depot [they say 2] and lowes [they say between 3-4]websites), so it very mcuh depends on your walls, the quality of paint used, and the tape. If you are using the blue high quality painters tape, I would say that 72 hours should be just fine. I know its longer than you might want to wait, but its worth it because repainting areas where the tape pulled paint off is a real pain. It also depends on whether you primed the walls first or not. Better safe than sorry.
Latex paint manufacturers reccomend letting paint set for 2 weeks before applying stickers, peel and stick appliques, wallpaper borders and so on...
Another tip I was told not too long ago.. never let the tape sit on your walls longer than 24 hours. That could cause the tape to bond with the paint, especially if exposed to direct sunlight
