Which is a more reliable dual oven: Miele, Bosche, or Thermador?
Question:I am remodeling my kitchen and I like the sleak modern European look, but would like to know about reliability before buying.
Answers:
I would go for the Miele.
I have had a Miele dishwasher and oven in my kitchen since we remodeled in 1989.
Last year the dishwasher heating element would not go off.
It was like an oven in there!
We unplugged it.
I called Miele and they sent out a tech the next day.
He arrived at the appointed time, put on booties at the door and spread a rug in front of the dishwasher to do his work.
He repaired the dishwasher on the spot and called in to see what to charge us and then told me "No charge".
I was flabbergasted!
He told me that when he went to work for Miele he thought he would be collecting BIG checks everywhere he went.
To the contrary, he said Miele rarely charges for repairs.
To have a dishwasher and oven that ticked along for 16 years without repair was remarkable. But our one repair experience was even more so.
Miele costs but their products ar SO worth it!
I don't know, but I love the look of Miele! If you can afford it, you should be able to afford any repair costs!
In all honesty, Kitchen Aid is a better product. Check consumer reports if you don't believe me.
They are overall all good brands.
That said, thermador is a popular oven in the US and overall rates very high and parts/availability as well as repair therefore should not be an issue.
A potential problem with Miele/Bosche is that parts or repairs might become an issue. We just purchased a Wolf dual oven based on features, usability, looks and reliability.
In the end I would imagine they are all good quality brands - you should take a look at consumer reports. For the brands listed consumerreports shows in order:
30" gas models: - best was 72/100
- Thermador (69/100)
- Bosch (65/100)
32" dual fuel models - best was 69/100
- Bosch (69/100)
36" gas models:
- Thermador (70/100)
I didn't see the miele ranges listed (likely not tested) and seems Thermador ranks a bit higher than Bosch..
