Is it important to buy a famous brand toilet?
Question:There are huge price differences between the similar models of Kohler, American Standard, Toto, and Eljer. How do I choose?

One of the best with respect to to flushing ability (and by law, you need to get a 1.6 gal or less flusher) is TOTO. I am an interior designer & I have heard this from several different building inspectors as well as personal experience. The Europeans and Asians are more advanced with respect to low volume flushing than we are and have had to work with that limitation longer than the US. Consumer Reports is always a good resource to compare products.

kohler is the best.
Kohler and Toto are probably the most recognizeable world wide as excellent brands. American Standard is very good too. Eljer is a pretty cheap brand. A very good American Standard model prices the same as a lesser quality Kohler. Toto is most expensive as its a Japanese import. Your best bet is a Kohler or American Standard but dont get the cheaper model Amer. Stan., it doesnt hold up as good as the Kohler
Choose the one that you like....it's not that important to
buy a famous brand toilet...we all sit on one, regardless if it
is famous or not. Perhaps, If you want to make an impression and have the money.then go for it. Again, choosing from what models you like.
I was at a Doctor's office, the office itself was nothing out of
the normal.however, when I went into the bathroom..
OMG...It was beautiful..and the fixtures..the toilet, should have looked at the brand...black, I sat on it..got up to look
for the button or lever..nothing..it flushed by itself, once I got
up. When to rinse my hands..no knobs etc.put my hands under it ...the water came out by itself...all done in gold the facets..black the sink. remarkable...I sure would like that in
my home...the soap I did not know how to work, and the towels. Next time I go, I will check that out.
So there is something different to choose from, see which one has these features.
Go for your style and looks in my opinion and naturally
the warranty..how long..etc.
I have Kohler...going to change to whatever the Doctor's office had.
Check the manufactures warranty, on each product.
