Which flooring besides linoleum & carpet is the easiest to keep clean? It's for my living room & kitchen.?

Question:

Answers:
I would use laminate or hardwood flooring. It's beautiful and very durable if installed correctly. It's easy to clean and sweep.

Ceramic tile is best, in my opinion.
We have stuff called Karndean down, it's a posh lino, comes in strips or squares. It's pretty pricey (£30 per sqm or so plsu fitting) but it's got long life, looks great and is washable. We've had it in both our houses so far, very durable and looks smart so fine for dining rooms, etc.

Laminate tends to wear and can be a pain to fit, if you can afford it go for this stuff.
Yes laminate or tile is nice but each has draw backs .

I put vinyl in kitchens because it holds up to dropped items ,usually doesn't show damage much . And no water issues.

Tile and a dropped pan don't mix. And if you have to replace on tile you probably have difference in grout color .

Both tile and wood are hard and cold and anyone that likes to lay on floor (kids , me with bad back) will take carpet any day .

Both carpet and vinyl are replaced easier than ceramic or wood floor down road. When the styles change which they will.

A Realtor friend say people with family/kids are starting to stray away from none carpeted houses .

But wood is beautiful and tile is the easiest thing to keep clean.
I'd go with cork flooring its warmer and soft to walk on hold upto damageand is renewable. Its up to you.
I have wood floors throught my first floor - its very easy to keep clean but if you are going to do wood in a high traffic area like the kitchen you are going to want a very tough wood like Brazillian cherry or walnut. They are expensive, but soooo worth it.

Ceramic tile is a good choice as well assuming you can can keep the grout clean, especially in the kitchen. You may want to either go with a dark grout or a very pale one you can bleach if grape juice is dropped on it.

Another choice is a laminate floor like Pergo. You can get it to look like wood or tile and it does not have some of the drawbacks. We have it in my daughters room and its very easy to keep clean.
solid wood flooring will last a lifetime with minimum maintainence - ok so its a bit more expensive in the beginning but you have to ask yourself how many other flooring types would you have to replace over the years? tiles break - laminate lifts, lino tears, carpets show heavy traffic areas and stain - wood flooring is a good investment
Ceramic tile for your kitchen is great. Living room? I would do wood flooring. Bamboo is cost effective and lasts for years. Oak is gorgeous but a little more money per square foot. Don't get laminated wood as it only last for 10 years and you cannot refinish it.
good quality laminate flooring. If you get a light colour it brightens everywhere up and is really easy to keep clean and so much nicer than carpet.Hope this helps.
