Make sure to correct any flaws or holes in the wall first with some spackle. Let dry and sand lightly to make smooth. Then use a good primer. Then paint room! Make sure to use quality rollers. And stock up on the blue painters tape! It costs more but it works the best! Also, make sure to peel tape off while paint is still wet, or you'll rip off some of your paint from the wall! Good Luck!

Make sure you type any wood work before starting...also throw plastic down over floor...
Get a better grade paint roller will last longer and go on smoother..
Good luck...I hate painting...
go back to home depot and buy some KILLS 2 primer. have them tint it 50% of the color you are using. one coat of primer, and one or two coats of paint, depending on how far you are departing from yhe original color. this will make your life easier and last years. is that what you were looking for?
