Bedroom Ideas?

Question:My niece is redoing her room for her birthday. She will be turning 15, she's kind of preppy, but she doesn't really want to do her room that way. She wants to get a new bed, she has a twin size bed at the moment, and she wants a queen size bed, she wants to a couch bed. Her bed faces her desk and she was thinking of puting a tv on her desk. She can't decide room colors, or window colors, or bed colors, or any styling ideas. I'm not so great. Someone is coming to help her decide what to do with her room, a stylist. We need to give her ideas so if anyone has any really cool pictures of some really nice rooms, that would be great. She was hoping to get away from the whole pink thing, unless it's like, light pink mixed with others colors. Blues, greens, light purples, anything that looks really nice. She wanted her room to look like one in a magazine. Maybe add a few new things, like a new nightstand or something. If you know any pictures, or something like that, please post them. Thxs

Answers:
A full size bed would be a better choice and would last longer for later moves- Most "first apartment" Bedrooms aren't that big and a Queen size Bed might not fit. Since beds last a long time no point in buying 2. and you can fit a trundle bed under ir and then Have a Futon Chair that can also lay into a bed.

Also having a TV mounted onto the wall would give her more desk space- TV doesn't have to be a flat screen to mount. Soon if not now high school will keep her busy with school work and projects.

something like tlc.com for remodeling ideas from trading spaces might help. or whatever she likes she can do as long as its in her (parents) price range. This is her room, and she can be as creative as she wants.
My daughter just turned 16, and we just finished her bedroom. We decided to go with a beach/surfing theme. It's very cool! We found this web site called
deanmillerprints.com they have all the stuff you need for a beach, hawaiian, or surfer girl room.

We have hard wood under carpet, but not in very good shape, so we ripped out carpet, painted floors white, Painted the walls a crisp ocean blue and painted the furniture white and then distressed it a bit. We got a raffia grass bed skirt, some Hawaiian sheets & comforter, Cool framed beach photos, a surf board made to mount on wall for decoration, big sea shells and star fish, some outdoor tiki patio lights, and some canvas roman shades, a cool surfer rug and a ceiling fan with blades that look like big palm leaves. Such a great room, she can't keep the rest of the family out of it!
www.pbteen.com or www.pbteen.com/stylehouse is a good bet. I'm 14 and I luv Pottery Barn Teen stuff, even though it can be kinda pricey sometimes...They have everything, and a lot of different themes, too. If you're on somewhat of a budget (like yours truly!), look at their merchandise for ideas and inspiration and the like. Target and Bed Bath & Beyond and similar stores probably sell bedroom things like to PB Teen.
I remember when I was 15 ! 3 Years ago !
And my bedroom was like one out of a magazine, here is how it was :
I had a deado rail on my walls, which was roughly half way from ceiling to floor, the bottom part of that deado rail was a really nice hot pink, the deado rail itself was a baby pink and the top of the deado rail was white, it looked really sophisticated. I had a white framed single metal bed, and bought some love heart fluffy lights to attach to the ''day bed '' ( What you call couch bed ) I then had a nice look already, then I decided to buy a fake sheepskin rug, and got laminate flooring, I then had a white window frame and kept my furniture to a minimal, I had a very large desk which took up most of my space away from the bed, so I put most things on there and used it as a study place as well as a msn time ! So I had all my study books on the desk not on a bookshelf, I got rid of the bookshelf. I had a pink chair from Ikea and customised that with pink butterfly fabric and fluffy cushions.
I also had pink and white playboy curtains and a circle design duvet cover, I think this look is really nice, sorry I don't have any pictures and sorry this is sooo long, Good luck with the stylist, oh and make sure your niece keeps her room tidy and puts things away in the right places, unless she already does that ! =)
