New wall just been built, looks to bright and want to make it look aged? whats the best this to do?
Question:new wall in my garden, looks totally out of plave is about 5 foot high and 20 ft long!!
Answers:
Ralph Lauren paint inc. has a technique called stifling. You simply apply 1 base coat of paint to the wall, wait for it to dry then you take a stifle brush (somewhat resembles the brush used to brush horses) and dip it in a darker base and go in circular patterns along the wall once completed it has an antiqued weathered look, resembles old leather dependent on the colors used. Its an inexpensive project and you can get all the directions and supplies at Home Depot. They have a Ralph Lauren paint section in the store. All the best.
The best way to age new things is to use good ole' tea bags. In a large bucket or tub, soak a box of tea bags in hot water. Use a sponge and wipe the liquid onto the wall, it will look aged after it dries. It will probably take a while considering the size but it will look natural.
so this is an exterior wall?
What is it made of?
is it painted?
You can use tea bags or go to your local craft store and buy a can of antiqueing.
You can also take a wood stain and go over and wipe off so it will look aged in all places.
