Help from color experts PLEASE!!?
Question:My room has a bunch of cute crap in it, like sanrio and japanese fans and all of my furniture is a baise wood color. My walls are all pale yellowish/ with a hint of olive green(which is barely visible) . I have in my closet over 25 posters which i want to put up in my room, but before i do that, i want a different wall color. I want a light pink, but will that match with my ruby red rug? I need suggestions and explanations as to why you chose a certain color! Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you everyone~
Answers:
r u leaning more towards u'r Japanese & Sanrio items for a theme or what? Y not try a red/pink tan w/ mocha brown trip... that would bring out the red in u'r rug & go w/ the theme u r doing.
ck. out http://www.sherwinwilliams.com & make the couches in the rm.. u'r ruby & red then try colors on the walls to match.. Now keep in mind that u'r using the oriental themes which would b red/black/off white/golds/greens/some blues & red
I would suggest mocha brown on u'r walls but that may b too dark but u could do one wall. Or even red walls or at least one of them. U can take u'r rug w/ u to match it up b/c pink is part of the red family, jst a different hue...
you obviously know colors can have hints of other colors in them so you'll be just fine in picking a color to match
ruby red rug? how RICH !
i've seen warm grey (not pale or light colored) with ruby red and it really rocked. plus it would give a neutral backdrop that would make any art work hung on it really pop.
the red rug is going to be hard -- red is best for small punches and a red rug is a lot of red. when i think sanrio i think hello kitty and pink so i think that is a good choice. i would do a fairly bright pink and white trim. if you can get away with it white furniture with bright pink would be great too.
the top flower is maybe a little too bright pink but something like that would be great i think.

for hanging posters i would do thin white frames if you can afford that many -- or just mount them on white poster board so they have white around the ends and cut it so its like a paper frame.
all that pink and white will look great with the red rug.
If you like the oriental flavor, paint your walls a clay beige or mushroom color. This color is a neutral that compliments the red. It is a great rich color which will be a great backdrop for your posters... especially if you frame them in black poster frames!! How sophisticated!
I would suggest Bombshell (light pink) or Pinwheel (light pink). Both colors are on the Glidden site. They have a color visualizer tool that you choose a room to paint and then you choose your colors. I choose a room that had a rug and painted to rug red (victorian red) then I painted the walls bombshell and pinwheel. I think they both look nice with the red rug. Of course I don't know the exact color of red your rug is so it the colors may look different with your rug.
